Influence of glutamine on B lymphocyte differentiation in vitro

The differentiation of B lymphocytes into antibody-synthesizing cells in vitro is glutamine-dependent and increases greatly over the physiological range of glut-amine concentrations (Crawford and Cohen, 1985). This effect of glutamine cannot be mimicked by glutamate or asparagine.
