Day, I cannot use any kind of lotions, cosmetics, fragrances, or hairsprays, and I doubt that I ever will be able to use them. I like people and I have always, all of my life, been around people. Everyone knows that they need proteins, but most think that they're just to build muscles. Proteins far exceed their role as musclemakers. Proteins are large, complex molecules in the cells of living things. They are an integral part of body structure, including muscle mass. Proteins differ greatly from carbohydrates and fats in chemical structure. Similar to carbohydrates and fats, proteins are comprised of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. But proteins also contain nitrogen. Nitrogen is found in amino acids, which are often referred to as the building blocks of proteins. Even amino acids can be further broken down, and the words peptide, protein folding, genetic makeup, and DNA would eventually need to be discussed, so to keep it simple, we'll just keep in the back of our minds that proteins have a very complex and involved structure.

Protein Quality

The nutritional quality of maize is determined by the amino acid makeup of its protein. Maize is deficient in two essential amino acids lysine and tryptophan, making it a poor protein food. The kernel is made up of the endosperm, the germ, the pericap, and the tip cap. The protein concentration is highest in the germ, but the quality is better in the endosperm. The germ proteins contribute significantly to essential amino acids, so maize food products without the germ, including quality protein maize (QPM) endosperm, are lower in protein quality compared to the whole kernel.
