If you ran in the Boston Marathon in 2008, you may not have been surprised to find a handout titled "The Right Way to Hydrate for a Marathon" in your welcome packet. Following the abruptly canceled, heat-affected 2007 Chicago Marathon, many endurance races began to supply entrants with information on the art of hydration. Developed by the American Medical Athletic Association, the brochure offered pertinent information on the art of prerace and event-day hydration. What was lacking was extensive information on the art of rehydration.
